About Blueberry Balance

Blueberry Balance is a virtual, pediatric-led metabolic health program for adolescents, built by Blueberry Pediatrics. We pair board-certified pediatricians with in-house registered dietitians and exercise specialists to deliver comprehensive weight-management care - including GLP-1 therapy where clinically appropriate - to teens and their families at home.

Adolescent metabolic health is one of the most under-served areas in pediatrics. Most GLP-1 telehealth is built adult-first and gates care at 18, leaving families with elevated-BMI teens to navigate months-long waitlists at hospital-based programs or nothing at all. Balance exists to close that gap with real pediatric expertise and a holistic, family-centered model, never medication in isolation.

The Opportunity

The Registered Dietitian is central to how Balance delivers care. Nutrition is not an add-on to this program — it is half of the treatment. You will review each family's clinical picture, sit with teens and their parents to build a nutrition and care plan that actually fits their life, and stay coordinated with the rest of the care team so every family experiences one coherent plan rather than a set of disconnected touchpoints.

This is a role for a dietitian who wants to work at the front edge of adolescent metabolic care, including alongside GLP-1 therapy, and who sees nutrition counseling as a relationship with a family, not a handout. You will also help shape how this care is delivered as the program grows.

What You’ll Own

  • Intake and clinical review
  • Review intake materials for each new patient, medical history, labs, baseline health evaluation, and prior care, to understand the full clinical picture before the first visit
  • Identify nutrition-relevant risks, comorbidities, and considerations, and flag anything that needs physician attention

Patient and family care

  • Meet with patients and their families via telehealth to assess needs, goals, eating patterns, and readiness for change
  • Design an appropriate, individualized nutrition and care plan for each teen, one that fits the family's life, culture, and resources, and that works in concert with medical treatment including GLP-1 therapy where appropriate
  • Provide ongoing counseling, monitoring, and plan adjustment as the family progresses

Care team coordination

  • Coordinate with physicians, nurse practitioners, health coaches, and other care team members to ensure cohesive, well-managed care for each family
  • Contribute the nutrition perspective to case reviews and care-team communication, so the whole team is working from one plan

Experience You’ll Need

  • Registered Dietitian (RD/RDN) credential with the appropriate education and current licensure
  • Experience with, and genuine interest in, working with adolescents with obesity or elevated BMI
  • Experience with, or clear interest in, supporting teens on GLP-1 therapy
  • Licensed to practice in the Balance states — FL, TX, CA, AZ, MI, IL, NY, NJ, PA, OH, UT, AL — or willing to obtain the appropriate licensing and credentialing
  • Availability of 30–50+ hours per month, scaling as the program grows
  • Employment classification 1099

Bonus if you have:

  • Experience delivering care on a telemedicine platform
  • Interest in improving care pathways as well as the technology systems that support families, someone who wants to help make the program better, not only work within it
  • Pediatric or adolescent nutrition experience specifically
  • Background in behavioral or family-centered counseling approaches

Time Commitment and Growth Trajectory

This role starts at 30–50+ hours per month, and we expect the hours to scale as the Balance patient panel grows. Dietitians who want their engagement to expand alongside the program — and who want a hand in shaping how it delivers care — are a stronger fit than those looking for a fixed, unchanging scope. Hourly rate for this contract position is $55/hr.

We do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, color, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, marital status, veteran status, or disability status.
