Senior Software Engineer

Job Description

Mindgrub Talent is looking for a highly experienced Senior Software Engineer to join a fast-growing, product-focused technology company building and scaling a modern cloud-based platform.

This is a strong fit for engineers who have worked in high-growth startups, venture-backed technology companies, or product-driven engineering organizations where software is the core product. We’re particularly interested in people who enjoy taking ownership, solving ambiguous problems, and building products and systems from the ground up.

What We’re Looking For

• 7+ years of professional software engineering experience
• Strong full-stack development background, with a preference for engineers who enjoy working heavily on backend systems
• Recent, hands-on experience building complex products and systems with TypeScript
• Experience working in high-growth technology companies, startups, or similarly fast-paced product environments
• Track record of owning features or systems from design through development, deployment, and ongoing improvement
• Experience building and scaling high-throughput distributed systems in the cloud
• Strong understanding of relational databases, data modeling, and scalable database design
• Experience with modern cloud infrastructure and infrastructure-as-code
• Ability to identify potential security, reliability, and scalability risks
• Comfortable working independently in a remote environment while collaborating closely with product and engineering teams

Ideal Candidate

We’re looking for engineers who enjoy building, owning, and improving products, not simply working through assigned tickets. The strongest candidates will be able to talk about meaningful projects or systems where they played a significant role in shaping the solution.

Relevant experience could include:

• Launching new products, features, or platforms
• Taking ownership of critical applications or technical systems
• Working through the challenges that come with rapid company or product growth
• Building tools, applications, side projects, or open-source software outside of core responsibilities
• Making engineering teams faster or more effective through better tooling and processes
• Evolving architecture as users, data, or transaction volumes increase
• Turning an early-stage idea or loosely defined problem into something customers can actually use

We also value engineers who have had the opportunity to grow within an organization, taking on broader technical ownership, more complex problems, or increased influence over time.

Additional Experience That Stands Out

While not required, experience in any of the following areas would be a strong plus:

• Building software in FinTech, payments, marketplaces, or other transaction-heavy environments
• Working with complex relational data models and helping databases scale as products grow
• Thinking beyond feature development to system health, monitoring, resilience, and maintainability
• Contributing to products that incorporate AI, experimentation, model evaluation, or data-driven workflows
• Demonstrating technical curiosity through GitHub activity, open-source work, personal projects, or other hands-on development

Engineers are expected to have meaningful ownership over both the technical implementation and the product outcome.

This role is best suited for an engineer who enjoys the pace and ownership of a startup environment and wants to help build and scale a product rather than simply maintain an established system.

Compensation

• Suggested Range $160,000 - $200,000 USD
• Base compensation will be determined based on a variety of factors including skills, education, certifications, geographic location, and overall experience for the role
