We're building a world-class team of game-makers: folks bursting with creativity, who balance candor with compassion, and hold themselves and their peers accountable to what's best for players.

We are seeking an experienced Staff VFX Artist to help create a dynamic and beautifully stylized look for an exciting new video game world. The Staff VFX Artist will create visually stunning effects that enhance the game’s characters, environments, props, and more. This role will report directly to the Lead VFX Artist.

What you'll do:

  • Use Unreal to create stunning 2D and 3D visual effects that align with the artistic vision
  • Work with the Creative Director, Art Directors, and design leads on how VFX supports game feel, mechanics, and character identity, helping shape direction
  • Build and improve the VFX workflows and tools for the areas you own, in line with the pipeline our Lead VFX Artist sets
  • Take on the most complex VFX and rendering problems in your areas, and turn those solutions into reusable systems and documentation for the team
  • Review and approve VFX assets, ensuring they meet quality standards and fit within the game’s stylized aesthetic

You are a great fit if:

  • You have 8+ years of professional VFX experience in the video game industry, with a portfolio showing high-quality stylized effects and experience owning direction for parts of a project
  • You have experience creating effects that enhance both artistic style and game functionality, with a focus in stylization, lighting, and color theory
  • You have deep experience with Unreal and Niagara (blueprints, custom material networks, shaders, sprite sheets, post-process fx, physics simulation including VAT) and can define best practices around them
  • You understand the rendering pipeline (forward and deferred), and how lighting systems and post-processes work, and know how to optimize for performance at scale
  • You have knowledge of Houdini, Substance Designer and Maya

What we offer:

Annual salary range: $152,000-$198,000 USD

Making great games is hard, so we do our best to make the other parts less hard.
